AUGUST 21. 1911 SATURDAY NIGHT THOUGHTS In the European war the Germans hare continued to advance along the Eastern line, and it has become more evident this week than ever, that Pet rograd is the goal sought, that the capital of the country, where resides the czar himself and his German wile. the Kaiser's cousin, will be the ter minus of the trip the kaiser is now taking. He proposes to return the last call of Nicholas, and will do so bnless his majesty gets a few mor rounds of ammunition backed by more pep. A striking feature of the war this week was the sinking of the Arabic. a British liner, just starting for New York. This was done without warn ing, the worst feature of the disaster. The fact that the vessel had been used to carry munitions to England will play a big part in the settlement of the matter. In the meantime why is England, supposed to be the greatest maratime country in the world, allowing the Germans to have submarines on all sides of it? It's lack of hustle is be coming excruciating to people liking to see a game fight A national event attracting the most attention was perhaps the lynching of Leo Frank, ihe Georgia pencil factory superintendent, convicted of murder, out in the minds of most people in nocent. It was a dark affair, full of dishonor, happening in such a way as to involve the state as partner in the murder. Because a Jew he was un justly gotten rid of, not the first time that a Jew has been sacrificed. There are Pilates in the world' even at the present time, and some of them live in Georgia. Several hundred people losing their lives on account of big storms in Tex. as has been one of the disasters of the week. Coming with the sudden ness of an explosion it has been a shock to the country.
