In the European war the Germans
hare continued to advance along the
Eastern line, and it has become more
evident this week than ever, that Pet
rograd is the goal sought, that the
capital of the country, where resides
the czar himself and his German wile.

taking. He proposes to return the
last call of Nicholas, and will do so
bnless his majesty gets a few mor
rounds of ammunition backed by

A striking feature of the war this
week was the sinking of the Arabic.

will play a big part in the settlement

A national event attracting the most
attention was perhaps the lynching of
Leo Frank, ihe Georgia pencil factory
superintendent, convicted of murder,

dishonor, happening in such a way as
