The answer in each case was: "Nary lone!" Gov, Campbell boldly challenged Major Mckinley to name a single protected in dustry In the state of Ohio wherein the wages have been increased by the opera tion of hit tariff law. The governor made the fair proposition to his opponent to "give him the votes of all the men whose wages have been Increased by the bill if he will give me the votes of all the men whose wages haven't been increased by it," and 'on that basis," he declared, "I'll carry unto by 750,000 majority." The tariff was raised on the pretense of paying higher wages to American work- ingmen. It has proved a fraud. Monop oly takes all the increased profits, and la bor can bite Its thumb. As there were a good many persons in attendance who had never been at the college there was quite an interest taken by the visit ors in examining the buildings, stock, flowers, etc., and none will regret the line spent. My only comnlaint was that our time was too short to make anv thing like a thorough examination. After two hours thus snent. we returned to the council hall and resumed business. The next meeting of the council will be held with Orand Frairie Grange, No 10, Linn county, on the first Saturday in Nov., 1891. A vote of thanks waa tendered bv the council to Corvallis grange for the use of their hall ; to the sisters for the repast furnished, and to the Profs of the collpie for the interest shown the council.
