(Special Correspon denee.) Eugene surprised the people o f this entire country last year by raising a great advertising fund and paying a ■alary of $5,000 annually for an expert. Up to Saturday, Oct. 31st, there had been subscribed for the coming year $l i,6Sl, to which will be added $1400, ( the total being more than a dollar and a half for every man, woman and child in the city, and this will be used in advertising the resources and advan tages o f Eugene and Lane County. Eugene is determined to go ahead and doesn’t mind a little thing like a nation al election. What other town of 10,000* people in Oregon, Washington or Cali fornia can match this record? Y o u will Salem will have the convention of the Oregon State Fair Dairy Association December 10th and 11th and already preparations are being made for a gathering that will surpass all previous meetings. The Oregon Development League will continue to work with the Association, and uses the dairy report as one o f the most effective pieces of literature in corresponding with Eastern farmers. Albany is not allowing the people of Portland or the other valley cities and towns to forget the Albany Apple Fair and the dedication o f the new Southern Pabific depot on Tuesday, November 10th.
