Heney the other day in a sizzling statement which principally denounces Heney as all kinds of a liar and declares Fulton to be away above the average among Oregon politicians in honor and intergrity. An in teresting statement contained in the article is that Fulton is un alterably opposed to the election <of U. S. senators by the state legislatures and in favor o f their choice by the people. This should cause Fulton’s political friends Jo hack water in their opposition to Statement No. 1. which is in effect nothing but the choice of U. S. renator by the people. Senator Fulton says in his reply to Mr. Heney that he cares but little for the office of U. S, senator but everything for his good name. So perhaps his sup porters would better give him a show to be selected as his own successor by the people of Ore gon under the provisions of Statement No. 1. G ranger .
