m OF the keek Bert Cason returned on Mon ' day from a trip over in Idaho. A baby girl was born to the wife of Wm. Fehrenbaeher on Saturday evening. ' Lookup the rewards offered in the Globe's "Want Column" this week. . - Born to Mr. and Mrs. J. J, Fehrenbacher, a baby girl, on Tuesday evening, Feb. 18th. 'Judge Littlefield of this dis trict has filed his petition as a nomination for circuit judge. City Marshal Townsend re ports that there are more broken water pipes this week than any time before this winter. A girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Peugh on Sunday A. Greiner was over from Mayville a couple of days this week. Mr. Greiner says that he looks for some some winter dur ing the month of March. C R. Fagan returned last week from Portland where he had been having his eyes treated for cataract He had three operations performed and is now greatly improved. J. R. Wells, and wife were among those from. Condon who attended the literary program and grand ball which were given at Lone Rock Wednesday j evening by the Knights of ryuiias ioage oi mac piace. J. E. Schroeder who has been i agent for the Kerr, GifFord Whse Co. at Mikkalo during the past -wheat-hauling season was in Condon this week. He expects to leave soon for a" few weeks' visit in Portland and other points but as yet does not know what line he will take up. : R. H. Pattison of Condon, who has been visiting here for a couple of weeks, left Thursday for his home. Central Point Herald. Bob returned Monday and was glad to get back. He said that Sam, who is editor of the Central Point Herald, is get ting along fine. As we go to press we learn that Len Searcy is very much better. - This office received a letter from E. M. Larkin, who has been selling the Best Combined Har vester in this district during the past year, written in Portland Sunday stating that he was leav ing for Haywards, Calif., where he would spend the winter. The object of the letter was to have the Globe sent to his new address as ne wisnea w Keep posted on the news of Condon and county; also saying that he was interested to know from week to week what the many friends he had made during his stay here were doing. Some miscreant who ought to be in the insane asylum or home for inebriates played rather a mean trick on Dr. Wood one night this week. The Dr. was on the point of starting on a call l"n f Via PAilnfnr atA erTJf at Hunt's Drug Store for a few minutes to write a prescription, he laid his overcoats down on the step outside. Although in the drug store only a very few min utes when he went out his coats had disappeared and could not be found and as he was in a hurry Tie took another coat And made the call. .The coats were found the next day in the lot beside T. G. Johnson's barn. The perpet rator is not known for sure but it might be well to say that the man who would do a trick like this, thus impeding a doctor on a hurry-up call, must bear very little resemblance to a. human being. The Oregon Wool growers as sociation have fixed wool sales for this spring in this vicinity as follows: Arlington. May Heppner, May 20, June 11 and 30: Shaniko. June 4-6 and July C; Condon, June 19. Cut this out and paste it in your note book. Otis Campbell made a flying business trip to Arlington on Monday. Mrs. L M. Schilling returned Tuesday evening from Forest Grove where she has spent the winter while Herbert attended he university at that place. Herbert will not return for some time yet S. B. Hartshorn rented his 920 acre ranch west of town this week to A. J. Moore and will hold a public sale on March 4th, after which Mr. Hartshorn and family will spend a year in the ea&t Look up the sale notice in our "Want Column". W. A. Campbell returned last evening from a week's business visit to The Dalles and Pendle ton. We are requested to announce that the usual morning and eve ning services will be held next Sunday at the Congregational church. Jeff Neel of Heppner was a Condon visitor this week. 0. C. Riggs returned last evening from Arlington, Wash., where he went to fill the pulpit in the congregational church in that city. He is well pleased with the enterprising Washington city and and al though he has not yet decided as to , whether he will take the charge, it is feared that Condon will lose a good pastor very soon. L. E. Laurance returned last evening from a business trip to Toronto, Canada. Although Mr. Laurance saw a lot of country and visited the old home he says that he is glad to return to a mild climate as it was 18o below zero in Canada with two feet of snow on the ground. Ralph Ashbaugh was taken to The Dalles on Monday, where he was placed in a hospital to be treated for heart trouble. He was accompanied by George Smith. Card of Thanks We desire to thank the friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the recent sickness and death of our hus band and father. MRS. 0. A. RUSSELL AND FAMILY. Globules By tht "Devil" "Wise or Otherwise" Seven men came down from Condon on the local last Friday and the smallest man in the bunch was James C. Thrall, says The Dalles Chronicle. It might be stated just for information that Condon raises something be sides big wheat crops. Statement No. 1 is simply a promise to obey the people. Yes so have them sign it If someone gives you the elad hand these days beware, for he is no doubt a politician who is now before the primaries but, of course, he is glad to see you just the same. p uvuuvruwxnnvnnnnnnAnnjuvoruw c I Announcements tnnivuvnnjVVAnnnruuivnnnnnAi For District Attorney.
