Committed To Tne Asylum.
C. N, Johnston, who holds a homestead
on Hay Creek was arrested yesterday
oiornlpg and examined as to hi sanity
before Justice 'of th Peace Nesle th
examination being conducted by Dr. J.
F. Wood. II wa adjudged insane and
committed to th asylum at Salem.
Johnston' mania seem to h that
everybody In the neighborhood had it In
for him and wanted to kill him and
when arrested he wa armed with
large revolver. II is native of Ten-
nesee and say that hi aunt was Insane
at one time. He Is not violent but
wanted protection from his Imaginary
enrmte.

There ia considerable sickness among
the people mostly on account of the grip.
The weather has been warm and de
lightful for the past week and the new
grass Is growing nicely.
Jeff Hayes took hi wife to Heppner
for medical treatment last week. Mrs.
Hayes has had a lingering ailment for
several months and her Case had become
critical, but since going to Hepper she
ia much improved.
Bill Matlock started Sunday morning
to take Geo. Terry to Portland for medi
cal treatment. George has not been
able to sit up for over two weeks and I
gradually sinking from an abscess on the
lung but many prayers are going up for
hia recovery and safe return to bis family.
