J. tie term "highway" includes any state Highway, county road, dis trict road, public seet, avenue, park way or public way in any county, city town or village, except any speedway which may be set apart by law for tire exclusive use of horses, light carriages or pedestrians, bec tion 1, Lhapter Sat), Laws 191il.) 2. Tne term "motor vehicle" as used in the law includes all vehicles prilled by any power other than macular power. (Section 1, Chapter ayy, Law wiy.) 3. An "operator" is defined as any person, other than a chauffeur, who operates or drives a motor vehicle on the "highways" oi the State. (Sec tion t, Chapter 3, Laws Special Ses sion, 1920.) Qualification for Obtaining Opera tor's License 4. .No person, other tnan a licensed chaulieur, shall operate or drive a motor vehicle in Oregon after July 1, iyU, unless and until such person shall have issued to him an operator's license by tiie secretary of state. And furtner no operator's license can be issued by the secretary of state to any person less than lu years of age and who has not had at least five days experience in the operation and driving of motor vehicles. The law provides that no person, whether or not the owner of a motor vehicle, who is less than 16 years of age or who is mentally incompetent or physically incapacitated as defined in such law shall operate or drive any motor vehicle on any public high way in this state. (Section 4, Chap ter Laws Special Session, 1920.) 7. Under no conditions whatever or by any officer or individual does the law authorize the giving of per mission to any person under 16 years of age to operate or drive motor ve hicles on the highways of the state. (Section 4, Chapter 3, Laws Special Session, 1920.) 8. It is unlawful for any person who is the owner or custodian of any motor vehicle to permit any person who is less than 16 years of age to , operate or drive any such motor ve hicle or to employ any person to op erate or drive any such motor vehi cle who is less than IS years of age and who is not a licensed operator or chauffeur. GLAISYER FAMILY ENJOYS REUNION To assemble a family of grown una. with families of their own, in cluding those from remote Darts of Oregon, the grdat middle west and even irom across tne seas, is not oi ten accomplished, but such was the occasion celebrated on Sunday, July 25th, when the Glaisyer family met in familv reunion. It had been eighteen years since the last family reunion was held, and it is needless to say that this oc casion was most highly enjoyed by all who had the pleasure of taking part in it.
