Last Monday night a big crowd from the various towns and communi ties of Banks, Manning:, Scofield and Buxton gathered at the latter place for one of the important road meet ings the Highway Association holds at frequent intervals. It is a queer proposition why any one would be in favor of any other route for a State Highway from Port land to Astoria, unless they were de sirous of spending more n. ney to accommodate a less number of peo ple. Among the best speakers we want to mention W. T. Sellers, Dr. Via, Ralph Hannan, J. P. McDonald, Wm. L. Moore, Mr. Stowell, Mrs. Vale, J. S. Culbertson, L. L. Craw ford, Rev. Gray, Rev. Ford.
