Newspaper reports state that Frank Willard, well known in Athena, has been sentenced to prison from Douglas county, Wash., for a statutory crime, oommitted at Eartline, in that state. . pAn explosion, caused by smut resulted in total destruction by fire of the Mo- Guire threshing outfit, together with about 1400 sacks of wheat,' on tbe Raymond ranch, near Walla Walla. Walker died at his home in Weston Tuesday evening, after an illness extending through a period of several years. The deceased, who was a brother of Horaoe and John Walker, was well known in this oounty, where he was highly esteemed. He leaves a wife, but no ohildren. For a number of years Mr. Walker was engaged in farming near Helix. M. M. Johns arrived Snnday eve ning from Portland, and will remain in Athens until his wheat crop is har vested and disposed of. Mr. Johns left bis home in Hollywood, California two weeks ago, going to MoMinnville, where he attended tbe funeral of his uncle who was accidentally killed.
