A number of Athena people attended
tbe funeral of tbe late Hugh Walker
at Weston, yesterday. The funeral
was one of the largest witnessed in

vation farmer, died at his home, south
of Athena, Wednesday night after a

Hugh G. Walker died at his home
in
Weston Tuesday evening, after an
illness extending through a period of
several years. The deceased, who was
a brother of Horaoe and John Walker,
was well known in this oounty, where
he was highly esteemed. He leaves a
wife, but no ohildren. For a number
of years Mr. Walker was engaged in
farming near Helix.
M. M. Johns arrived Snnday eve
ning from Portland, and will remain
in Athens until his wheat crop is har
vested and disposed of. Mr. Johns left
bis home in Hollywood, California two
weeks ago, going to MoMinnville,
where he attended tbe funeral of his
uncle who was accidentally killed.
Tbe family will spend another year in
California before coming to Oregon to
reside permanently.
