Pullman. Pree ident E. A. Bryan, of the Wash ington State college, has just received j uoiice of his appointment as temporary !, president of the State Berkshire associ ation, which ia affiliated with the American Berkshire coDgreea. Presi dent Bryan's appointment is the begin ning of the organization of the Berk shire association in the state of Wash-1 ington. This association reaches through nearly all the states o' the ' union, and in the opinion of President Bryan, its coming into the state of j Washington marks an important step in the livestock industry of the North west Discussing the matter President Bryan said: "I believe the Berkshire association is one of the most active and successful Jivestock associations in the United I States, and that its work in the North-1 west cannot fail to produce good re-1 suits. J t T ,1 1 1 at I breeder of Berkshire hogs in the coun try; Reuben Gentry, of Kentucky; Mr. Hood, of 'Hood's Sarsaparllla' fame; and George Vanderbilt, of Ashe vi lie, Tennessee. Among the most promi nent breeders of BerkBhires in the North weBt are the Ladd estate, of Fort land, and Mr. Paul Clagstone, of Spo kane. I have raised Berkshire hogs on my Pussy Willow ranch near Pull man for the past ten years, and am thoroughly convinced of the desirable qualities of this breed. "It is proposed by the Berkshire association to conduct an active cam paign in the state of Washington, in favor of this breed of hogs, prior to the Alaska-Yukon exposition at Seattle. Then by the time of the exhibit, our state organization will be able to get up a splendid exhibit, and we Will nhow the farmers of the stata what sort of an animal the Berkshire is when proper attention is given him. Yes, It is very likely that the state experi ment station will have a few Berk- Bhirea at the exhibit. At the present time we have some specimens of this breed that have been pronounced by the best Eastern experts as equal to anything in the United States." These humors get into the blood, generally because of aa inactive or sluggish condition of the members of the body whose duty it is to collect and carry off the waste and refuse matter of the system. This unhealthy matter ia left to sour and ferment and soon the circulation becomes chargea with the acid poison. The blood begins to throw off the humors and acids through the pores and glands cf the skin, producing Eczema, Acne, Tetter, Psoriasis, Salt Rheum and skin eruptions of various kind3. Eczema appears, usually with a slight redness of the skin followed by pustules from which there flows a sticky fluid that dries and forms a crust, and the itching is intense. It is generally on the back, breast, face, arms and lees, thousrh other carta I of the body may be affected. Ia Tetter the acid in the blood dries up the natural oils of the skin, which are intended to keep it soft and pliant, causing a dry, foverish condition and giving it a hard, leathery appearance.
