If Oregon republicans are to
accept the statement o f Cham­
berlain that it is just as well or
better to send a democrat to the
senate than to send a republican,
and to sustain him in the conten­
tion by voting tor him, then they
m ay as well admit that it is just
as well or better to elect a demo­
cratic president than to elect a
republican president. Of course
it is to be expected that a demo­
crat v who believes in his p&rty
will take this view o f it bnt the
republican, so called, is no longer
a republican when he takes this
stand and he ought to go over
and train with the other fellows
in order .to be consistent.

evident that there is littk doubt
but that it will be sustained by
