Floyd McDonald, Smith-Hughes instructor, gave a good talk, review ing activities of the department and detailing some of the problems he has encountered in carrying on the work. Bill Cunning, who was at the head of the department for several years and started the Father A Son banquet idea, came in for complimentary mention of the way in which he had co-operated with farmers and towns people in bringing the Smith-Hughes work here to the high standard it has. Others who spoke more or less briefly were J. L. Smith, Jack Clin ton, H. H. Hartley, Keith Leslie, Earl Cross, F. C. McNelly, J. E. Norton and Frank Biases. At the close of the banquet the of ficers of the chapter exemplified the work by conferring the Green Hand degree on twenty freshmen who en tered the Smith-Hughes class in Sep tember. Again it must be said that their presentation of the ritualistic work was excellent. Those boys in a few yean will make very efficient' officers in secret organizations.
