Mount, manager of the Portland Better bureau. Salesmen are said to be operating in the county, acocrding to Mount, of fering certificates for a nominal figure entitling the holders to funerals on a cost-plus ten per cent basis, but Mount says the fault in the plan is .hat the company may set its own cosb - X ”7’ The certificate selling concern is said to offer the prospective investor a funeral at a reasonable price, usu ally on a coat plus ten per cent basis, provided the prospect puchases a bu rial certificate at a figure set by the company. Prospects are assured that by, obtainning a large volume of fun erals costs may be materially reduced, Mount delaree. The company, however, reserves the right to set the cost figure and is said to offer cheap funerals at an actual lots to'.the company during the first of the sales campaign in order to procure letters of recommendation and endorsement. “The investment plan is well worthy of careful investigation,” Mr. Mount declared, “and every prospective pur chaser of the certificates is urged to look carefully into the proposition be fore buying.” “If you are offered a burial corti cate of any kind take it to your banker, an attorney or to a business friend who has had experience with contracts and let him examine it and advise you as to your protection,” Mount declared.
