Woodle and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wo »die and son spent a day last- week, at the home of their son Malcolm at Troutdale, in honor of his birth day. Mrs. R. M. Brash very pleas antly entertained the Helping Hand last Wednesday afternoon, with the time spent in making comfort pillows for the soldier.-. The club meets Dec. 12th with Mrs. Alex Baker, vs hen Mrs. J. C. Gillingham, f ield Secy, of the Portland Chapter, American Red Cross is expected to be present and aid in the formation of a lo cal Red Cross Auxiliary. H. S. Gibson sold a couple of cows to the Walter Givens Co. recently. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Douglass motored to Viola Thursday, Mrs. George Preister of Logan return ing .vith them, being a guest at their home here until Sunday. Dick Gibson was a Barton visi tor Sunday. Mrs. Waiter Douglass, who has been in Portland for some time under the care of a physician, is nowr home again. Mr. and Mrs. Lou Baker. Ward Douglass and family and Miss Lola Baker were guests at the home of Alex Baker on Sun day. Mrs. Annie K. Morton and son Tom of Portland were guests for the week-end at the E. W. Bart lett home in Estacada. CLOSING OUT Fern Staggers the Extention News of the Oregon Agricultural College this week contains an article which should be of interest to every farmer in this community. This article is headed “ Fern Poisoning or Fern Staggers” a id i deals with the latest investiga tion of that disease among horses and other livestock, so prevalent during the rainy months in fern infested districts. This community has each year suffered a heavy loss in horses from this, hitherto, more or less undiagnosed disease and the read ing of this article by the local livestock owners, may mean the saving of many animals this win ter. One copy of this article is now’ on file at the News office, but others may be had by writing to the 0 A. C. Extention Dept., or this office will try to supply them. Special Show Xm s Night The program at the Estacada Family Theatre for tonight, Thursday, the 13th, comprises Mary Pick ford in “The Found ling”, which is a film with a na tion wide reputation. On Saturday afternoon and evening will be shown Myrtle Gonzales in the Blue Bird feature. “ Mutiny”. A good comedy also appears on this bill. On Thursday evening the 20th, will be presented “Molly Make- Believe” and on Christmas night, “A Kentucky Cinderella” will be the feature, with a comedy fol ____ lowing.
