Especially will Mr. and Mrs. Demoy’s absence be felt in Estacada church circles, where they have always taken a leading part. The first quarterly meeting of the Viola Church will be held Wednesday, November 21, l o ginning at 10:80, followed by a basket dinner at noon. At 2 o ' clock the quarterly conference will be held. Superintendent Dr. Eord presiding. The new minis ter, Kev. B. A. Bristol, formerly o f Banks, Oregon, will be in charge o f the regular meetings from t»ow on. Mr. and Mrs. Win. Johnson o f Estacada left this week for Nebraska, where he will make h is ‘ headquarters, having taken the selling agency for a portion o f that state, for an Oregon man ufactured product. Hal Gibson, who for the past few years has conducted the gen eral store and postoffice at Bar ton, has made a trade with his brother Harvey, whereby the latter takes over the mercantile business and Hal takes over Har v e y ’s highly improved farm. Mrs. W. A. Heyleman o f Esta cada, returned Wednesday from a two w eeks business trip to Spo kane, Seattle and other points. All For $5. Reid o f Garfield, who enlisted at the last call for re cruits early in the month, re turned home last Saturday, hav ing been honorably discharged from the service. This discharge, nased on a technicality, proved a disappointment to Mr. Reid, who since the war started, has repeat edly attempted to enlist in f he Officers’ Reserve.
