Elwood farmers have collected their cattle this week, in antici pation of a call from cattle buy ers in the near future. Another little girl has come to take up its abode with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freeman. Mr. Nelson of Portland, form erly of Elwood, spent a few days last week in this vicinity. Over 120 Tons Of Apples Imported f In order to keep the Estacada Cannery operating at full blast, Mgr. Demin# last week received from the Yakima Valley and east ern Oregon points, 3 carloads of orchard run apples, amounting to over 120 tons and similar ship ments are also enroute from Hood River. The cannery is now operating under full force with from 20 to 30 men and women employed. Aptoists, who were on the road near Barton late last Monday night, report having seen a big conflagration in the hills within a few miles of there, but to date, no further information has been received as to what burned.
