The car struck tho nged man ln the back and knock ed him fully thirty feet. When found a few moments later by ono of the train crew, ho waa dead. Goehlnger was deaf and did not hear tho ap proaching train. He had just returned to Lebanon from Hoseburg where he had been stopping at the soldiers' home and had alighted from the train and had started down the track when the train backed up and he was struck.
