The campaign for members of Con
gress, though overshadowed bv the
Presidential contest, has not been
neglected, as some persons are in
clined to admit that the Democrats
may make gains over their present
representation in Congress, but they
do not concede the former all thev
are claiming. Both parties have di
rected their final energies to the dis
tricts where the fight is closest.

and at the close of each half time on

scored against.
Every man on both teams played
his best and with or two exceptions,
they all did well. Preston, Eugene's
right end seemed to star on defense,
but Hint he really did better than
any one else. Is a hard question, for
in co-operation lay tho strength of
both teams. Short, for Astoria, from
his left half position, mniie tho long

Eugene both outpunted and
handled punts better than Astoria.
However, she lost two long kicks
which were fumbled In the second
hnlf. and which was the only blot In
her buck field work.
The game was logical. No costly
mistakes were made, no long dashes
for extraordinary distance, lioth
teams fought hard at every turn. As
