The Tutted btatea is to have a conspicuous pnrt In the deliberations of the first in ternational congress for the repres sion of the adulteration of alimentary and pharmaceutical products, which convened In Geneva today for a week's session. The congress la held nnder the auspices of the White Cross association, which is Intended to be complimentary to the Ited Cross Society. Dr. Harvey. W. Wlly, chief of 'the bureau of chemistry of the Depart ment of Agriculture, heads the offi cial delegation from the I'nlted State. Reports of Dr. Wiley's scien tific experiments to determine the relative values of articles of food and drink had preceded him and at the opening of the congress today he was one of the most prominent fig ures. Dr. Wiley will present three papers to the congress. These will deal with the purpose and working of the Kood and Drug Act. the ad visability of excluding chemical pre servatives from all food products, and the Importance of securing, through an international congress, uniformity in definition of adulter ations of foods and drugs.
