The sureaders of this new propa ganda, that Hinging Is healthy, are on the wrong tack. What is really needed is to convince tho thousands hn nersist in trying that singing is not only unhealthy,, but actually dan gerous. Things have surely changed when a newspaper is credited with enter prise for getting "news" by wireless. When it was called the "grapevine telegraph" editors who used it were laughed at, by those in the know. .lumnlne Jehoshaphat! Here's a man saying that Fairbanks wasn't nominated because his boom wasn't started early enough, and launching ope for 1912 for him. Now, wouldn't that cool things a little? As long aB the powers confine themselves to calling Castro an "in ternational nuisance" no change need be expected in him, as nothing short of a good kicking or thump ing ever acts on pinheads of his type. There's a tip in the order of the Paris police authorities forbidding the printing of criminals' portraits in newspapers, on the theory that anything that exploits criminals in creases crime. Human nature i3 so weak that we fear the discovery of a method of telephoning without wires, just an nounced in France, will largely in vrease the crop of liars. "Ain't It a shame, Maud?" that Queen Wllhelmina should have to bother with that Castro mix-up just when she is expecting a visit from the stork? Shouldn't wonder if putting the big Pennsylvania Coke and Coal Co. in the hands of a receiver was a move in the same to hoist the price ol coal. Let's get the Carver railroad or any other old road that comes within striking distance of Eugene. Kail roads are the great builders of cities. The way to get good water is to go to the mountains after it just as Eugene purposes to do. THIS DATH IN HiSTOKV August '-- 14S5 Richard III killed on Hos worth Field.
