GIRL STRUCK BY LARGE STONE Rocks thrown by a blat at the rock' quarry of the paving company Friday struck the little daughter of Robert Poole, and broke the roofs of several houses. The big piece of Btone which struck the little girl only bruised her heel, so that she could not walk, but weighed nearly seventy-five younds. according to those who Investigated the accident. Not only was there one such big rock but scores, more In fact, than has ever been thrown out In the past. J. It. Sellers first reported that his house had Its root punctured by flying stones. An Investigation showed that a number of others were In the same condition. Any amount of rock was scattered around. The point In the quarry from which the rock was blown out was one at which there had not been operations. An extra large blast was put In, shoot ing the rocks into the air for many yards. Superintendent Shewry, of the paving company, went out Into the country today to look for another quarry, but aa yet has no location. The Warren people are extremely sorry for the occurrence. They think that they have enough rock to finish their present contracts, and believe they can so arrange the blast ing that no more rocks will be In case they take more contracts. The manager will be down :rom Portland today to look into the mat ter. 8PHIXCiPIKI,l UITAIj NOTES CMI'I'ED FIIOM TflE NEWS Dr. A. K.
