Yester day was the day that has long been looked for by the members of the SI. John's church, as well as the cit izens of the entire vicinity for some time past. The event was the laying of the corner-Htone of the new Mc LotiKhlln Institute. Although the weather was somewhat cloudy and threatening rain a large crowd was present. At about 1 1 o'clock the crowd began to gather about the platform con structed near the place of the corner stone laying on which the speakers of the day wore seated. Father Illlderbrand was the first to address the gathering and as he did so he spoka of the work that was now nearly completed and of how the thoughts of a short time ago bad been brought to a realization. Mr. Pelz, who is part owner of a big cattle ranch In tne moun tains of Wyoming, was a caller at the Guard office yesterday and showed tho force a number of photographs of several bands of elk taken on the ranch while the snow was on the ground.
