Eby Returns From Bay Coun try and Says Southern; pacific Is Rushing Work on Drain Exten-i sion May Pass up Marshfield and North Bend E. B. Eby, machinist at the Fraier Iron Works, returned last night from a trip to Coos Bay, coming over the route of the proposed Drain-Coos Bay extension of the Southern Pacific railroad. He reports a large force of men at work on four tunnels, two above and two below Elkton, and that the work of grading In several places Is being rushed. It has been reported that work on the line had been stopped and that the project possibly would be abandoned, but ac cording to this from Kir. Eby it looks as though the company Intends to carry out its original plans.
