Ackerman, slate superin tendent of public Instruction, who baa been visiting our schools yesterday and today, left on this afternoon's train for Harrisburg, where be is to lecture tonight. Superintendent Ackerman does not keep himself In the seclusion of bis office, but gets out over the state, and keeps in close touob with the bard -working and faithful school teachers. County Superintendent Miller ac companied Mr Ackerman to Harris burg today, and will oonduct the1 institute at Junction tomorrow. Mr Miller is alsa an example of the official who has come up through the ranks, can meet on tbe level with teachers, and has an Intelligent appreciation of tbelr trials and difficulties. City Superintendent Martindale, of tbe Albany publlo schools, visited tbe high school this morning and addressed tbe students at assembly, He paid a very high compliment to the Cicsar olasB, and in consequence they are feeling quite elated. Mr. Martindale spoke on tbe ad van tages of physical development, and tbe desirability of encouraging student organizations for sport as well as for mental discipline.
