Ford and wife of Raymond, Washington, have returned to Inde pendence. They removed from this place a year ago to work at his trade there. They say that Independence is good enough for them. Calloway then resumed her journey to her home at Mountain Home, Idaho, and the doctor returned to this city Tuesday evening. J. II. Dixon has charge of the 8. P. warehouse again this season. This makes the third season for him in charge. He expects to be receiving hops by the 15th of the month. A Home telephone has been installed in the warehouse for the accommo dation of local and longdistance needs Timothy Goodrich, of North Yam hill, Oregon, an old time resident and well to do farmer is going to retire from the farming business and will hold a public sale Saturday, September 19th, at 10 o'clock. Among the articles to be sold are some Percheron mares, cotswold sheep and registered Angora goats. J. M. Craven has purchased a half interest in a hardware store in the town of Wallowa in Eastern Oregon. He is associated in the enterprise with his brother, J. R.
