Claypool, Oregon pion eer of 1846, hero of tha Indian wars, former county commissioner of Llna county and member of the Oregon legislature, died at his horns In Leb anon, at 10:30 o'clock Sunday morn ing; at the age of72 years. He had been In ill health for the paRt two years. Mr. Claypool was a resident of Linn county for mora than half a century. The Oregon Railroad Commission has dismissed proceedings agalnxt the Coos Ray, Roseburg & Eastern, in which that road was accused of discrimination against the California & Oregon Coast Steamship Company. The commission ordered that the Corvallis & Eastern provide two toi let rooms in each of its passenger cars, except those running only be tween Albany and Corvallis. That a bounty is needed on cou gars, wolves and other wild animals to prevent their rapid increase in the mountains and foothills of East ern Linn county is the assertion of residents of that part of the county, who have presented a big petition to the county court asking for a special tax levy on the 1909 roll for that purpose. The directors of the Water Users' Association, at Klamath Falls, have taken a determined stand not to pay over $18.60 per acre for Government Irrigation. They will gather hun dreds of affidavits showing that the water users were promised water at $18.60 per acre, including main tenance, and that the cost would not exceed $20 per acre in any event. If the Reclamation Service Insists on the payment of $30 per acre and 75 cents maintenance charge, the asso ciation will go before Congress with Peter Cook and W. W.
