That the country is all right, that traffic conditions are as good as could be expected and that the railroads have do complaint to make, is the statement of Henry Blakeley, general western To M. C. Wilson, O. E. Williams, M. E. Williams and J. B. Thompson: Notice Is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Dallas, Oregon. contemplates the passage of an ordi nance requiring the improvement of those certain streets or parts of streets in said city, adjacent to or adjoining the herein below described lots or parts of lots or parcels, of ground in the manner following, to-wjt: By the construction of a cement sidewalk ten (10) feet in width (1) on the North side freight agent for the Northern Pacific. if it i i ... i ... 1. 1 t I. v. -i i. . "No complaint was heard then, for everybody was happy. The traffic carried now Is considerably over that of 1906 and VM5. I do not think anyone will expect business to keep up to what it was last year. We will probably get back to it some time, but there is a limit to tbe length of time that business can go on increas ing 20 to 30 per cent in a year. There has got to be a stop sometime. Traffic cannot continue indefinitely at tbe peak Tbe wave is bound to recede. 'These things are not to be ex plained. Business seems to follow no known rules. Immigration to tbe West is tne same way in a sense, rot a aerios of four or five years there will be a heavy movement to tbe Pacific Coast by settlers. Then for the follow ing few years, with conditions prao ticaiiy tne same, bardly any new settlers will come. I do not know any reason for it any more than for these let-ups in business.
