Burial of Judge C C. Brock. Ilall of Bohemia camp No. 2(H), Woodmen of the World. Cottage Grove, Oregon, Nov. 5th 1909. Whereas, the great Ruler of the Universe has removed from this earth to the great Forest above our beloved neighbor, Max Staudacher, and Whereas, said neighbor was a true Woodman and a good sou and this camp by his death has suffered a severe loss, now, therefore, Be it resolved, that this camp e x tend to the bereaved parents, broth ers and sisters their heartfelt symp athy in their hour of affliction, and be it further, Resolved, that our charter be draped in mourning for the period of thirty days and that a copy of these Resolutions be sent to the parents and a copy be spread on the minutes of this camp and a copy furnished to the papers of this city. !•'. Dulfruille is in receipt of the first letter from Mrs. DuBruille since her arrival at Waynesburg, Pa., with the remains of her father. Judge C. C Brock, whodied at this place recently and was taken to his old home for burial. The funeral was conducted on Monday Nov. 8, at Waynesburg and was very largely attended, the pall bear ers all being prominent attorneys and jurists of Pittsburg and Waynesburg, professional associ ates of deceased. The funeral services were very impressive, being conducted by a prominent Methodist and a Presby terian minister. The former took for his text that passage of scrip ture wherein Joseph Expressed his desire at his death to l>e taken to, and buried in, the land of his birth. The latter preached his sermon from an expression he had heard on the streets of Pittsburg concerning de ceased, “ His word was as Good ns his Bond.” Musie- was furnished by a picked choir. The grave of deceased was lined with slate and sealed throughout, being air and water-tight. Judge Brock was a man of affairs in Pittsburg and Waynesburg and l|is many friends demonstrated the high regard in which he was held by the many tributes paid to his memory at the last sad rites over his remains. The plant has a capacity of 4000 ties per day, and employs a large force. Snow fell in Hasteru Oregon and upon all the higher mouutaiu ranges in Western and Southern Oregon late last week being followed with heavy frosts through out the state Saturday and Sunday. This is the earliest snow fall re corded in this state in thirty-seven years. Jersey Cow Strayed. H. P. Perkins and wife of Baker City, the former a brother of Mrs. J . P. Currin and Mrs. Wynne, of this city, are guests of relatives here. Mr. Perkins is an Oregon pioneer and the second time he crossed the plains in 1867 with a mule team he was accompanied by our esteemed townsmau J . P. Cur rin. After a few days visit here Mr. and Mrs Perkins will go to Southern California to spend the winter. Two unusually large congrega tions were prestit at the Methodist church on Sunday. One adult was admitted to full membership during the morning service.
