A Swell Real Estate Office The (Jueeu of Hearts (Miss Ethel Moore) and Kittle Bo-Peep (Miss ('.eorgetta Berg) entertained a number of their friends last Fri day evening March 19, at the home of the Misses Berg. The function was a well arranged and much en joyed Mother (loose party. The guests as well as the popular host esses were qll attired in costumes appropriate to characters of Mother (loose note, (lames and tableaux were enjoyed until the youngsters were lured away from their play by tempting dishes of good things to eat, (Jueeu of Hearts, tarts, etc. The evening was much enjoyed by all and the hostesses were highly complimented on their novel and successful way of entertaining. Francis Beaulieu late of Rose- burg, but formerly of Minnesota has become associated with John Woodard in the timber and real estate business in this city. The new firm has moved into their new offices on the ground floor of the brick Vetiske building on Main street. The interior has been thoroughly renovated, having received new paint aud paper until the offices have an entire new ap pearance. New desks nnd office furniture have been installed, and the old fixtures, formerly used for the bank, have been rearranged to make a private consultation room. I.iuoleum has been laid on the floor aud a very modern office is the result. See their new business card on the fourth page of the Leader. A very lively, tuneful and catchy march two-step, composed and published by Warren (Hare, the music instructor of this city, has just been issued from the press aud is very favorably received by all musicians in whose hands it has fallen. The number is dedi cated to Miss Ursula I.ockwood, a handsome and popular young lady of Cottage Grove, an excellent half-tone picture of whom graces the artistic title page of this new two-step, which promises to become a good selling musical number, aud is considered one of the best of the many which Mr. Glaze has composed and published. Compliment to Company E. It is reported that Company E, of Cottage ( '.rove, stood highest in the annual inspection which oc- cured last month. Considering the size of the town and the. many advantages the larger places have the record is especially of note. They have the highest shooting figure of any company in Oregon for the past year in the rifle prac tice and the shooting of representa tives from the company which went east to the National shoot at Camp l’erry is well known for the high averages.—Junction' City Times. The initial baseball game for the season was played on the local diamond Sunday between Dorena aud the Nesmith Boosters, result ing in a score of 29 to 6 in favor of the home team. It was fullv demonstrated in this game that the Nesmith Boosters have organized a strong, well balanced team, every man lieing ^perfectly at home in his assigned position on the dia mond. Ray Baker, the pitcher, had a season’s experience.
