WILLIE WHITLA AGAIN AT HOME Cleveland, Ohio, March 22.— Little W illie W hitla, who has caused the police of the entire country endless worry since he was k idnapped at Sharon, P ennsyl vania, T hursday, was returned to his father at the Ilolleiideii hotel here this evening. In com pliance with an agreem ent entered into with a female agent of the k id nappers, the boy was placed on a street car in the outskirts of the city and started to th e hotel shortly after 8 o ’clock. W hitla refuses to state whether or not he paid the $10,000 ransome. Mrs. M atilda McCall, one of L ane co u n ty ’s best known pioneer wotneu, died at the home of her d aughter, Mrs. Emma Miller, in Portland F riday m orning at 5:30 o ’clock. Mrs. McCall was born in Illinois ou October 16, 1820. She cam e across the plains with her husband W illiam McCall, in 1852, settling on R attlesnake creek, n ear Pleas an t Hill. Mr. McCall has lieeu dead some thirty years. Besides Mrs. Miller, another daughter, Mrs. L. B. Rowland of Portland, and a son, H ayes McCall, of L ake county, survive her. Mrs. Call was a true Christian, h aviug been a member of the Christian church since early girlhood. She and her husband cam e to this state as m is sionaries along with the Baugh m ans and other promiuent families of the county. T he funeral was held Sunday at 11 a. m ., and the rem ains were interred beside those of her h u s b and in the Pleasant Hill cem e tery. T h e body arrived at Goshen from Portland Saturday afternoon an d were taken to th e home of Mrs. Emily Baughm an at Pleasant Hill, where the services were held Rev. J. S. McCallum, pastor of the First Christian church of F.u gene, conducted the services. Deceased was a first cousin of D. C. B aughm an of Cottage Grove who, with his wife attended the funeral services, Mr. Baughm an having accom panied deceased and other mem bers of the families across the plains in ’52.
