Hallowe'en Party T he popular th e atric al aggrega tion, E c k h a rd t’s Ideals, will ap pear at the opera house Friday and S aturday nights, November 6th and 7th, the big dram atic event of the year, presenting the greatest of laugh m akers, the Villiage Schoolm aster. It is one of those plays th a t catch you in the short ribs and you la u g h from l o ginning to the end. T he produc tion w as a great success in New York, where it had a phenom enal run. M anager H ckhardt witnessed the first production and im m ediate ly secured it for the coast. It gives all of the cast a chance for good work and also gives the ladies an opportunity to wear some swell gow ns of the dressm akers’ art. T he com pany th is year is the best ever enrolled under the m anagem ent of Mr. K ckhardt. T here will be no long waits, as there are vaudeville sketches be tween acts. Miss E m m a Job entertained a num ber of her friends at her hom e W ednesday evening. T he porch and rooms were lighted with Ja c k O ’L anterns and beautifully decorated with autum n leaves and red berries. A ghost welcomed you at the door by ex ten d in g a cold, clam y hand, which you were expected to shake as heartily as you pleased. W hen the guests arrived they were told to find a dim ond ring, hidden in the rooms. T hen cam e the eating of doughnuts and apples suspended on a string. Some learned their fate by m eans of three dishes of coffee, tea and water. ( Itliers experienced fright in the dark when com m anded to grasp th a t w hich was th ru st into their hand s an d when they did, found it to lie chestnut burrs, cold starch and the like. T he ghosts escorted all to the basem ent, one by one, aiid by the wierd sounds an d noises the re m aining ones were assured to meet the same doom. In the ghosts’ dom ain they found hung over a fire, a huge kettle which held w alnuts. A n u t con cealing the fu tu re of each person. T he fortunes were read followed by stories of ghosts and haunted houses. A gypsy w aited up stairs to tell fortunes and there w as m uch am usem ent over the fates of her victims, Partners for lunch were secured by m atching m iniature pum pkins. At m idnight the ghosts departed and the spell w'as broken. T he guests were: Misses Berg, Moore, M undy, C urrin, Coffee, N eva and L eah Perkins, Knowl- ton, Ilefty, Jones and I,ea. Messrs Thom as, T rask, H arvey, Currin, Anderson, F.rnest, Scovell and Sanford.
