Hallowe'en Party
T he popular th e atric al aggrega
tion, E c k h a rd t’s Ideals, will ap
pear at the opera house Friday
and S aturday nights, November
6th and 7th, the big dram atic
event of the year, presenting the
greatest of laugh m akers, the
Villiage Schoolm aster. It is one
of those plays th a t catch you in the
short ribs and you la u g h from l o
ginning to the end. T he produc
tion w as a great success in New
York, where it had a phenom enal
run. M anager H ckhardt witnessed
the first production and im m ediate
ly secured it for the coast. It
gives all of the cast a chance for
good work and also gives the
ladies an opportunity to wear some
swell gow ns of the dressm akers’
art. T he com pany th is year is
the best ever enrolled under the
m anagem ent of Mr. K ckhardt.
T here will be no long waits, as
there are vaudeville sketches be
tween acts. Prices; children 25
cents, general adm ission 35 cents,
reservied seats 50 cents. Seats on
sale ot the New E ra d ru g store.

W ednesday evening.
T he porch and rooms were
lighted with Ja c k O ’L anterns and
beautifully decorated with autum n
leaves and red berries.
A ghost welcomed you at the
door by ex ten d in g a cold, clam y
hand, which you were expected to
shake as heartily as you pleased.
W hen the guests arrived they
were told to find a dim ond ring,
hidden in the rooms. T hen cam e
the eating of doughnuts and
apples suspended on a string.
Some learned their fate by m eans
of three dishes of coffee, tea and
water. ( Itliers experienced fright
in the dark when com m anded to
grasp th a t w hich was th ru st into
their hand s an d when they did,
found it to lie chestnut burrs, cold
starch and the like.
T he ghosts escorted all to the
basem ent, one by one, aiid by the
wierd sounds an d noises the re
m aining ones were assured to meet
the same doom.
In the ghosts’ dom ain they found
hung over a fire, a huge kettle
which held w alnuts. A n u t con
cealing the fu tu re of each person.
T he fortunes were read followed
by stories of ghosts and haunted
houses.
A gypsy w aited up stairs to tell
fortunes and there w as m uch
am usem ent over the fates of her
victims,
Partners for lunch were secured
by m atching m iniature pum pkins.
At m idnight the ghosts departed
and the spell w'as broken.
T he guests were: Misses Berg,
