Active publicity work has re sulted in such an influx of people in the more active communities of the Pacific northwest that housing the newcomers has really Irecome a serious problem in some of the towns. New residences are being erected as rapidly as possible and rented long in advance of their completion. In some of the fruit districts, cars loaded with house hold goods are occupying the tracks and the delay in their un loading is making the orchardists apprehensive as to trackage for their fruit shipments. AFTERNOON AND EVENING CONCERT As previously announced the Civic Improvement committee of the Woman’s Club will give two musical programs the afternoon and evening of Oct. 16, next Fri day at the Commercial Club rooms. The afternoon program will begin at .1:15 o ’clock and the evening program at 8 o’clock sharp. The piano numbers given in the program will be played on a a player piano, which is kindly furnished by the Filer piano house, Portland, Oregon. The piano music will be in charge of Prof. Burnett, a noted player pianist of Portland. A 10 cent admission will lie charged for each program, the money to be used by the Civic Improvement committee in work it wishes to take up. After each program there will be a social time with music.
