HATS OFF AT CHURCH. PLEASE!
WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Active publicity work has re
sulted in such an influx of people
in the more active communities of
the Pacific northwest that housing
the newcomers has really Irecome a
serious problem in some of the
towns. New residences are being
erected as rapidly as possible and
rented long in advance of their
completion. In some of the fruit
districts, cars loaded with house
hold goods are occupying the
tracks and the delay in their un
loading is making the orchardists
apprehensive as to trackage for
their fruit shipments.
AFTERNOON AND
EVENING CONCERT
As previously announced the
Civic Improvement committee of
the Woman’s Club will give two
musical programs the afternoon
and evening of Oct. 16, next Fri
day at the Commercial Club rooms.
The afternoon program will begin
at .1:15 o ’clock and the evening
program at 8 o’clock sharp.
The piano numbers given in
the program will be played on a
a player piano, which is kindly
furnished by the Filer piano house,
Portland,
Oregon. The
piano
music will be in charge of Prof.
Burnett, a noted player pianist of
Portland. A 10 cent admission
will lie charged for each program,
the money to be used by the Civic
Improvement committee in work it
wishes to take up. After each
program there will be a social time
with music. Fruit punch will be
served.
Following are the programs:
