Director’s Note Th e 2018 season of Concerts in the Park is off to a great start! We had an awesome season opener last week. Th e band was great, the crowd was plentiful and everyone seemed to be having a great time despite the cool and breezy conditions. Th ere WILL be a concert on the 4th of July and we’re adding something special to this concert to acknowledge and celebrate our Independence Day. We’re working with the Cottage Grove Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Bohemia Park Foundation to retire the old tattered fl ag that’s currently fl ying in the park and replace it with a nice new fl ag to start the show on the 4th. Be sure to arrive early to enjoy all of the 4th of July acknowledgements. Local singer, Cora Branstetter will sing the National Anthem aft er the installation of the new fl ag. It’s going to be a great way to start off all of the Independence Day celebrations around town so bring your blankets or chairs to Bohemia Park on July 4th and enjoy another great concert in the park! 6-8pm. Animal House 40th Reunion and World’s Largest Toga Party Toga, Toga, Toga! You’re invited to the World’s Largest Toga Party on Saturday, August 18 th in Cottage Grove. Help us celebrate the 40 th Anniversary of National Lampoon’s Animal House movie and try to break the Guinness World Record for Largest Toga Party ever! Meet original cast and crew and enjoy performances by Otis Day & the Knights, Th e Kingsmen, Th e Cry, and others. Don’t wait to buy your tickets to the Toga Party because the Super Early-Bird pricing will end on July 6 th . Keeping You Informed - Chamber Committee Briefs Greeters – Chair Cassie Barrong Th e Greeters hosted a very successful fundraiser serving lunch at Wings & Wheels June 23rd, taking in nearly $1200 for the Greeters Scholarship. We will also be participating in quite a few upcoming events including this year’s chili cook-off , both the Bloomers parade and the Bohemia Mining days parade- Linda Trombly has been working diligently getting the fl oat up and ready! You can also fi nd us at regular Chamber activities such as business aft er hours, upcoming ribbon cuttings, and at concerts in the part to purchase your “Toga Kit”- a sheet, laurel headband, and gold Greek temp. tattoo starting July 18th! Our July meetings will be July 12th and July 19th @ 8am at the Oregon Aviation Historical Society Museum- 2475 Jim Wright Way, come join the fun!! TEAM (Training, Education And Membership) – Chair Don Williams Group members are interested in helping with recruiting new members. Community conversations are continuing regarding mental health and tran- sient issues and possible solutions that weigh pros and cons. Its good business to let other chamber members and businesses know if you have a new manager/employee(s), new hours, an exciting event, or any news you wish to share. Transit Tomorrow is Lane Transit District’s (LTD) eff ort to fi nd out how we can better move the people we serve to the destinations that are important to them. Transit Tomorrow will take a deep look at LTD’s current bus system and ask two important questions: How can LTD help people get to where they are going? What shape should LTD’s services take in the future? LTD Is Asking You, Th e Community, To Help Shape Th e Answers To Th ese Questions. Engage Online: Share your opinions and learn more about the project from your phone or computer. Provide feedback through our transit choices survey tool. Participants are eligible to win a gift certifi cate to local businesses or free bus passes.
