' . Last week about ten men under the direction of J. A. Denny tackled the" task of making a wood toad up Deet Creek. They had only worked Monday ere they w ere warned out on the stage road by the road supervisor, who, by the way, appears- to have much more to say in this country than the king of England (natura'ly) ; not blaming the supervisor as he didn't make the laws, As these men had set their timerpotne time ago to meet and make tftmuch needed road to timber, several would have preferred paying the cash (only it was not handy having been paid out for taxes) than to"go at the king's commaiM." However, they put in Tuesday und helped get the s'ae road in shape and also last week completed their Deer Creek road, A few days ago Mr. Crawford's horses got out of pasture and set out up the canyon. Mr. Crawford h?aring which way they were heading followed atld caught them near the Hurley Horner place. U was then quite dark.
