"Pace is the best, assessor we have, ever had in Wallowa county," is a re mark you can hear anywhere in the county when the subject of assessing is talked, lie has unearthed more prop erty and thus lessened the burdens1 on the "little fellows." Unlike assessors in many counties who sit in their offices and let deputies do the real work, "Sam" lioas out and sees the property. He has probably teen in more places in Wal lowa county more times than anyone else. He is one of the first, if not the first assessor to follow the letter and spirit of the law in assessing at full val uation. Mr. Pace can stand on his record without fear of results. Arthur H.
