OFULA tip s0 I So not believe that Ayer's Sarsaparilla has an equal as a cure for Scrofulous Hu mors. It is pleasant to take, gives strength to the body, and pro duces a more perma nent result than any medicine I ever used. E. Haines, North Lindalc; Ohio. "W.F.Fowler,M.D., Greenville, Tenn. For forty yeare I have suffered with Erysipelas. I have tried various remedies for my complaint, hut found no relief until I commenced using Ayer's Sarsaparilla. After taking ten bot tles of this medicine I am comnlctelv cured. Canker, and M. C. Ameslmry, Gatarrh, Kockport, JUC I have suffered, for years, from Catarrh, which was so severe that it destroyed my appetite and weak ened my system. After trying other remedies, without re lief, I began to take Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and, in a few months, was cured. Susan L. Cook, 909 Albany St., Boston, Mass. Ayer's Sarsaparilla is superior to any blood purifier that I ever tried. I have taken it for Scrofula, Canker, and Salt Rheum, and received much benefit from it. It is good, also, for a weak stomach. To a Neves reporter last "Wednes day, Col. Crocker said: "We left San Francisco on Mon day evening last and on arriving at the end of the track of the California & Oregon, mounted horses and inspected the graded portion of the track on which the rails have not yet been laid, on ac count of the unfinished tunnels in the Siskiyou mountains. One of these on the summit will be finished by October 1st. The other tunnel on this side vrill be completed by the t;me the grade is finished into Ashland. I ex pect the road will be finished to a connection by the first week in December. The work at this point is very heavy and costs a large amount per mile, but wo are fully determined to push the road to a completion before the heavy storms of winter set in and give your state the benefit of a line running from New Orleans to Portland. The entire line both north and south of the gap is in splendid condition." "What is the object of your vis it to the northwest, Col. Crocker?" was the next question. "Our purposo is to become fa miliar with the railroad property recently purchased by the South ern Pacific the Oregon and Cali fornia and Portland and Willam ette Valley railroads. To thor oughly familiarize ourselves with the railroad situation here in order that we may know all its require ments, so that it will be clear in our minds and that il may not be necessary for us to obtain data second banded. In short, we de sire to become acquainted with the country, its people, the rail roads and the requirements of each and all of them. "We have not come to perform any partic ular act, and so our mission, 3'on see, is general in its scope. We wijl remain for 'several days and inspect the Portland and "Willam ette Valley railroad, and then take a trip to the Sound." "Is it your intention to extend your S3'stem to the sound?" was next asked. "We have no present intention of doing so," significantly rfplii'd Mr. Crocker. "Do you think it likely that branch lines will be built from the Oregon & Californii and the Narrow Gauge?" ""We have no definite plans 301." In speaking of immigration Mr. Crocker said: "The supply of immigrants to develop the great resources of this section will come principally from the eastern states. It will be the policy of the South ern Pacific to do its utmost to build tip Oregon and Portland. If we did not consider Portland an important place to reach, do you suppose we would have expended the millions wo have in building the California & Oregon railroad, or bought after years of negotia tion at a large sum the O. & C. railroad and the Portland & "Wil lamette ValleyTailroad. . The com pletion of this road through to San Francisco will be of quite a benefit to Portland, and the state, and I am pleased to note that many of your citizens are begin ning to realize this important fact." "The air is filled with hotel ru mors, and it has been stated that, senator Stanford talks of building a hotel in Portland; is it a fact that he contemplates em barking in such an enterprise?" "I have not heard of any such intention on his part. "We regard Sissons as a good point for a hotel, also Ashland. Both these points have been talked of, as possessing advantages for investments of this kind, but no action whatever has been taken." Misery After Eatiac Is avolded'by dyspeptics who, guided by the recorded experience of thousand?, beeln aud systematically pursue a course of Hostotter's Stomach Bitters. Persistence In the use of this pure and highly accredited stomachic is the sole and agreeable condition of the en tire removal of the obstinate forms of dys pepsia, no less than a temporary fit of Indi gestion. In connection with the use of this speclnc.lt Is desirable to avoid articles of food which Individual experience has shown to bo difficult of digestion, by the stomach sought to be benefited. Each dyspeptic's past observation of his digestive capacity should enable him to be his own guide and mentor In this particular, not trusting to any set of dietetic rules too general to be suited to particular cases. Biliousness and consti pation, heartburn, wind upon the stomach, sour eructations, headache and mental de spondency are among the concomitants ot dyspepsia, and we put It to flight by the Bitters. An Editorial by Herr Mo3t New York, Sept. 14. News of the affirmation by the supreme court of Illinois of the decision of the lower court in the condemned Chicago anarchists case caused a great excitement among New York socialists and anarchists. Herr Most was furious. He rolled up his sleeves and proceeded to write an editorial addressed "to the workingmen of all countries." The editorial was a column and a half lonsr, written in characteristic and violent style. He character ized the judges who made the de cision as "infamous and blood thirsty fools," and the jury as cor rupt." Capitalists wished to see blood flow, to show the people that they were the law and could do as they pleased. ""Working men," says he, "will you peacea bly allow this to take place?" The cruel deed of November 11 could be prevented if anarchists so wished. The workingmen must show their military strength. Indignation mass meetings must be held at once, and money raised to fight the battle of justice and saivation of martyrs. Most goes on to demand a de cision in the case from the United States supreme court, and says that agitating meetings should be held all over the country until the court dare declare the law uncon stitutional. John 0. New's Opinion. San Francisco, Sept. 14. John C. New, ex-United States treasurer and present member of the Republican national commit tee, who is in the city, nid to-day in talking about Jas. G. Blaine and of his chances for the presi dency: "I do not think he is available. He has been before the nominating conventions for u great many years, since 1S72, and made one race Nobody has more friends, and they are of the warm est sort too. That is the trouble. Blaine is unfortunate in having friends that knife every other man's friends. Blaine is a great man. Don't understand me to say anything else; but, as I first said, lie is not available. In the first place, I don't think he can be nominated, and if he is, with the Conkling disaffection in New York, I am satisfied he cannot be elected. The Conkling wing of the party, of course, does not feel kindly toward him. They feel that they haven't been treated right, and of course this would count against him. As for the mugwumps, there are not many of them left any more, except George William Curtis. Tfiey do not cut any figure. Indiana will send a solid delegation to the national convention for senator Ben Harrison. After him T think John Sherman will get Indiana's support." A Remedy for Kidney Complaint. 'My kidneys were so affected I have been compelled to get up as much as ten times in one niht. I had pains in my side, back and left shoulder, and when down could hardly rise. 1 was unable to bend my body without great pain. I tried Simmons Liver Regulator and my condition has improved so much that I hardly ever feel anv of my old trouble." W. Johnson, Express Agent, Macon. Ga. Salmon are reported as thick as hops just off the mouth of the bay, and the reason given for their ab sence from the bay is that there has been no rain for weeks and weeks. We are told that if we could only have a good shower now, the salmon would get their bearings and come piling in as they did last season. As a mat ter of fact, it did rain during the latter part of August, 1886, soon after which the salmon came into the bay by thousands. Yaquina Post.
