SIUSLAW NEWS | SATURDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2018 | 5A Backstreet, FEC issue ‘Call to Artists’ Backstreet Gallery (BSG), in partnership with the Florence Events Center (FEC), is offering an special opportunity to artists in the local community. Together, they are issu- ing the “Where Art Thou?” Call To Artists to enter up to three art pieces to be ex- hibited during the months of February and March at the FEC. Hanging art (paintings, mixed-media, photogra- phy, pastels) as well as 3-D art (pottery, jewelry, fused glass, mosaics) that fits in the locked display case are welcome. Up to three en- tries will be accepted per artist, with $10 charged for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry. The exhibit in Galleries One and Five at the FEC. Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place and honorable mention. The Best in Show winner will receive a one-month featured show at Backstreet Gallery. Deadline for artists to submit their entry forms is Jan. 15, 2019. Entry forms are available at Backstreet Gallery, 1421 Bay St., or can be downloaded at www. backstreetgallery.org. The flags are placed at strategic lo- cations around Florence to alert the community when the Emergency Cold Weather Shelter is open. Greg Wood, President of the FECWS Board, received the flags from Linda Castro, Sandy Zinn and Susan Sher- mann.
