Ron serves on the Lane Community College Advisory Board, is active with the Florence Rotary Club, and is a strong supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of West Lane County. Ron is a graduate of Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington and has been in banking since 1989. Ron is the board chairman of the Peace Harbor Medical Center Community Board of Directors and a member of the Peace Harbor Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors. Woody opened Grocery Outlet in 2005 and enjoys serving his community. He also is a director on the Florence Urban Renewal Agency representing Lane County. Ned Hickson has been a member of the Florence community since 1981. He graduated from Siuslaw High School in 1984 and was a regional chef for Morrison, Inc., where he oversaw opera- tions and restaurant development for res- taurants in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky. In 1998, he returned to Florence and began his career as a jour- nalist at Siuslaw News. He is nationally syndicated columnist, author, award-win- ning journalist and was promoted to edi- tor in 2016. He also served as a volunteer firefighter/engineer at Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue from 2010-2015, and was Recruit of the Year in 2010. Elected to the board May 2015- Tony is a Florence native. He is married to Melissa, both are Siuslaw HS graduates. They have two sons Kevin and Kyle, also Siuslaw HS graduates. Tony and Melissa own Tony’s Garage specializing in auto service and repair. The Phillips family including Kevin’s wife Lindsey work in the day to day operations. Tony is a ASE Certified Master Technician. His hobbies and interests include classic automobiles, motorcycles, travel and relaxation time with his family and friends. Married to Lesa and together they have 9 children and 18 grandchildren. He has a been a volunteer member since 1986 and is happily retired. His hobbies include motorcy- cles and ATV’s. Elected to the board in May of 2015. He began his career in the United States Air Force where he served as a Medic. He is married to his wife Tina and they have a 25-year-old daughter who lives in Vancouver, WA. When Jim and his wife aren’t working, they enjoy riding ATVs, fishing, and camping. Jim’s interests in the Fire Service and EMS began early in life after becoming a fan of the TV show “Emergency.” Jim and his wife consider the Pacific Northwest their home and were thrilled when they had the opportunity to live in Florence and become part of the incredible team of SVFR and WLAD. President of a Transportation Brokerage, he and his wife Elke, have two children. "You'll frequently see me riding my scooter around town. I like to take care of business from one of the many great coffee shops here in Florence. I'm thankful for the opportunity to once again serve the community like I did when I was in the Air Force. Both types of services create unique bonds which lasts forever." Her hobbies include volunteering at the Elks Lodge, kayaking, hiking and riding ATV’s. Julie was previously a paramedic in Bakersfield, CA. OPS graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, IA with degrees in Pre Law, Political Science, and Sociology and has been a professor for two community college fire/ems programs. OPS and his wife Danielle enjoy travel, motorsports, movies, and music. Chief Dickerson loves the challenge of the fire service and is excited to be a part of SVFR.
