Spring Chinook and summer steelhead are being caught, and fishing should continue to improve. ODFW is recycling hatchery summer steelhead from the Siletz Falls trap, giving anglers another shot at catching these fish in the gorge. Casting spinners, drift- ing bait or using a bobber and jig can be effective. Trout season opened May 22, and there should be some nice cutthroat around. More than a dozen teams competed on five courts between Marshfield High School and SWOCC, with tournament finals played Sunday afternoon. The Vikings didn’t reach Sunday’s finals round. E UGENE E MERALDS EUGENE — The Eugene Emeralds will present the Emeralds Baseball Camp, pre- sented by Oregon Medical Group. The two day camp will run Monday, July 17, and Tuesday, July 18. Campers aged six to 14 will have the opportunity to work with Eugene Emeralds Players and coaches. “I had a lot of fun attending See FISHING 3B TO HOST TWO - DAY KIDS BASEBALL CAMP camps growing up,” said Jesus Feliciano, manager of the Eugene Emeralds. “We look forward to meeting all our campers and helping them learn the fundamentals of baseball.” Campers will rotate between stations focusing on hitting, pitching, base running and fielding instructions. All the stations will be run by members of the Eugene Emeralds and will provide one-on-one instructions to the campers. The camp will cost $100. Registration also includes the chance to get autographs from the team, lunch each day, an exclusive baseball shirt and two tickets to an Emeralds home game. Spots are limited. PENDING “We are always looking for ways to help support youth baseball,” said Anne Culhane, director of community rela- tions for the Eugene Emeralds. “This camp is a great way to get kids excited in baseball and get hands on instructions from future Major Leaguers.” The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon both days. Campers, no matter their skill level, are welcome. Registration forms for the camp are available on the Emeralds’ website at emer- aldsbaseball.com.
