year. The 2017 trout stock-
ing schedule is available
online.

Steelhead, Chinook, trout
The Siletz River opened
for wild Chinook on April
1 (1 per day and 2 per sea-
son). Spring Chinook and
summer steelhead are
being caught, and fishing
should continue to
improve.
ODFW is recycling

from the Siletz Falls trap,
giving anglers another shot
at catching these fish in the
gorge.
Casting spinners, drift-

Siuslaw’s summer basketball season ended Saturday,
with the Vikings playing in the three-day Marshfield/
Southwestern Oregon Community College Basketball
Tournament. More than a dozen teams competed on
five courts between Marshfield High School and
SWOCC, with tournament finals played Sunday
afternoon. Above, Siuslaw senior Johnny Rollin
drives past a member of the Jefferson Lions’
defense; right, Senior Dylan McGallian gets a steal
before passing to fellow senior Jared Brandt. The
Vikings didn’t reach Sunday’s finals round.
