SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2016 3 A New Lane County program offers assistance with property taxes Lane County is participating in a new state initiative designed to help homeowners who fall behind in their proper- ty taxes. The Oregon Homeownership Stabilization Initiative (OHSI) was created to administer United States Treasury Hardest Hit Funds, which provide fore- closure prevention and commu- nity housing stabilization through direct assistance to homeowners. “Creating healthy and vibrant communities is a priori- ty of Lane County,” said Lane County Assessor Mike Cowles. “This initiative will help pro- vide a safety net for people who are at risk of losing their homes and also ensure County servic- es don’t lose funding as a result.
