COOS BAY — “Saturday Market Bags” is certain- ly not your grandmother’s quilt. The fabric art creat- ed by Tina McCann of Depoe Bay was the favorite of visitors to the Pacific Park Galley annual fiber art exhibit “In Stitches.” In addition to “People’s Choice,” the artwork, which incorporates 3-dimensional felting, beading, quilting and assemblage, earned the “First Place” award in the Free-Form Original category. “Best of Show” was awarded to ”Cosmic Tango” by Paulette Landers of North Bend. The design includes hand-painted fabric, free-form textural stitchery and a whimsical colorful design. “Salsa,” by Sue Allen, Lakeside, was awarded “Best Traditional Design.” The colorful quilt features 3-dimensional techniques bringing a floral theme to life. “In Stitches” is an annual fiber art jurored exhibit, and the theme for 2016 has been announced. “Healing Harmonies” invites fiber artists to create art that represents healing: personal, spiritual, global or environmental. Pacific Park Gallery is a not-for-profit, non-com- mission sales exhibit space created by artists for artists. The gallery is now scheduling for 2017 exhibits. The gallery welcomes large, experimental wall and free-standing art. New art exhibit to feature Charleston ‘Shipyard Fragments’ CHARLESTON — Get up close and personal with the Charleston Shipyard. Betsy Lewis offers an intimate look at the beauteous decay of the shipyard, docks and waterways of Charleston, Oregon. Her work is a unique mix of photogra- phy, paint, paper clay, salvage items of 1 8 • C OAST wood and rust, and wax encaustic processes. The opening reception is March 5, 1 to 3 p.m., at the South Slough Interpretive Center, 61907 Seven Devils Rd, in Charleston.
