TAG group meets every day for enrichment in all academics, with the focus on reading, math, sci- ence and social studies. Recently, TAG students com- pleted a novel study on “The Sea Tayler Hatfield of Monsters” by Rick Riordan, the second book in the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series. Students completed interviews on their iPads and created diora- Morgan Milbrett mas and topographical maps to go along with the novel study. “All the students put great effort into their projects,” said teacher Jody Brand. “They are motivated, excited and eager to learn. Lane Community College Florence Center encourages students from all walks of life to partici- pate in this process by pro- viding nearly $48,000 in scholarships to western Lane County residents, ranging from $500 to $6,000 each. Stop by LCC Florence Center, 3149 Oak St., to pick up a scholarship infor- mation packet or visit www.lanecc.edu/foundation The applications for scholarships from Florence Ladies of Elks, B.P.O.E No. 1858, are due Saturday, March 5. School counselors can provide the application. The Elks provide scholar- ships and vocational training to any graduating senior from the high schools of Siuslaw, Mapleton, Reed- sport and Triangle Lake who plans to attend an accredited college, university, trade or vocational program. Unfortunately, Camp- bell’s is winding down its Labels for Education Program and it will no longer be printing the Labels for Education logo by the middle of 2016. As of now, the program will last through the 2016- 2017 school year. The PTA hopes to collect and send in as many labels as possible before the program closes down. There are collection
