Xo more fa vorable weather for scouring tho grain crops could bo wished for than has been experienced in tho last three weeks, up to Monday, and it is an absolute fact that tho balk of tho finest crop of wheat, barley and oats is secured in good condition and put in stack, beyond fear of damage hy rain. A largo acreage of corn is planted this year in tho Stale; pros pects very poor; tho weather has been uniform and tho rain too cool for ripening. Sr Louis, Aug. 27. Reports from 100 points in Arkansas, West Ten nessee and Northern "Mississippi show that the general crop prospects are of the most gratifying character. Thsre are abundant crops of wheat and oats in most of this, region, (lood crops of small grasses were male, and all has been harvested and protected save corn. Judge Fields de cided in tho United States Circuit Court of Oregon, that all conveyan ces made by claimants under the do nation or land law are valid, when m ule after July 17th, 1851, by per sons who have tiio land ollico certiii cato of final proof, although tho con veyance bo made before tho issuing of the patent. I his is in accordance with the views maintained by Judge Thornton in his pamphlet on Salem titles; and it settles definitely and probably forever tho title to all the property in Salem, except in a few cases whore great carelessness and want of skill in drafting deeds have lefe open a way through which tho Wilson heirs may seek to appropri ate tho property of honest citizens. The magnitude and importance of this decision on titles, even through out the State, cannot bo well overrat ed. Judge Deady dissented from Justice Field's opinion. The census returns from Tolk county, which have just been com pleted, show the following, popula tion and other statistical facts: Males 21 years of age and over, 1,211; males under 21 and over 10, 720; males un der 10, 809; females over 18, 1,03:3; under 18 and over 10, 181; under 10, 742.
