THROUGH THE FOREST. Tk Old and Young Danced Ml Niirht. Hardy Ancestors. Our Otd men livo in tho past. Perhaps it wouln bo better for the young men of tho present, if they lived a littlojjbit more in tho past, and drow loss on tho future. The log cubing of primitive times would seem very cheerless habitation to tho peoplo who livo in tho finely constructed, furnace heated mansions of to day. But our grandparents took n great deal of comfort in theso rudo homes. They wote rugged and healthy. Tho men had stalwart and hardy frames and tho women w ro free from tht modern ailments that make tno t-cx of to-day practically helpless slaves to hired foreign lied p. Whito haired grand-airea frequently took their life partners and on horse back rodo a scoro of miles through tho forests to enjoy tho lively pleasures of a, frontier ball, danced till daylight. rode 101110 again in tho early moruing then put in a good day's work. Middlo-aged folks of to-Uuy couldn't stand that hort of a racket To theso mud-chinked log "Viibins dootors visits wero a rarity. Tho iu habitants lived to a rugged and green old ago. Sometimes theso log cabin old-timer: were taken ill. They wero not proof against all tho exposures to which they wero subjected. Thoy found the ouectivo remedies for theso common ailments iu tho roots tuid herbs which grew in tho neighboring forests and fields. They had learned that nature has a euro for every ill. These potent romedies ashisted their sturdy frames to quickly throw off disease and loft no poison in tho systom, Tho uuploasant feature of modorn practice with mineral medicines is the injuiious after-eflect on tho system. May not modern physical degeneracy bo due to this feature ? A drug-saturated system is not in a natural, consequently not in a healthy, state. If any of tho main organB are clogged with traces of tho mineral poisons used to drivo out a particular diseaso, tho whole machin ery of life is deranged and early decay of natural powers is the inevitable result. Thoro can bo ao question that rom edies from the laboratory of nature are the best. If thoy are as eflicacious, they have tho advantage of leaving iu after sting. Thoir efficacy, if propeily com pounded, and the proper remedy ap pliod to the proper disease, will not b doubted. Tho experienco of ages proves it. Their disuse has conio about prin cipally through tho rapid congregation of ieoplo in cities and villages, render ing theso natural remedies difficult to obtain. Progressive business enter prise has lately led to putting thee old time reniedios within tho reach of all classes. Tho proprietors of Warner's safe romedies, in tho faith that tho people of to-day would bo benefited by using the simple remedies of log cabin days, have caused investigations to bo made and secured tho formulas of a number of those which long and successful use had proved to bo most valuable. They will, we learn, be known under the general title of "Warner's Log Cabin Remedies." Among theso mod icines will bo a "Sarsaparilla" for the blood and liver. "Log Cabin Hops and Buchu Remedy," for tho stomach, etc., "Log Cabin Cough and Consumption Remedy," a remedy called "Scalpine," for tho hair, "Log Cabin Extract," for internal and external use, and an old valuable discovery for catarrh, called "Log Cabin Rose Cream." Among the list is also a "Log Cabin Plaster" and a "Log Cabin Liver Pill." Tho famous lbmiing island of tlio Doi'woutwator. England, lias coiuci to tho surface airaiu after a long disap pearance. I wo years after ward he bogau tp investigate tho sub j ct of colors, or color-blind'iess. Ho found that ho could distinguish but two, or at most threo, colors iu tho rainbow. Cob r-blindness is largely hereditary, and a fleets males much more frequent ly than females. It exis s from birth, and there is no moans known by which it can bj remedied.
