Mr. Parker, from Minnesota, has moved into the eastern part of town and ex pects to make his heme here. Earl Brown this week began teaching in the district near Mountain Homer Mr. Rickard, the Alsea mail carrier, has started his hack over the road, and passengers can easily make the trip over the mountain. - . Geo. Meats and family have moved into the house owned by N. Allen. Mra. William Morris is making several improvements on' the place which she bought a few weeks ago. While everyone is glad to see the beau tiful sunshine, yet on the face of every true Oregonian there has been a smile ever since this mist began to fall. The new sidewalk along the west and south sides of Mr. Ambler's property looks fine and adds much to the value of the property. " the boys are now improving every spare moment at baseball. May berry, John Harris, of Wells, has been handi capped to some extent with Ins spring work on account of some of his horses being sick. Miss Bertha Mayberry .had the mis fortunate to come in touch with poison oak and has been so affected as to be an abte to be around the last few days. A'thnr Beams, of Springfield who is visiting at the borne of W. D. Prettyman, will return home the latter part of the week. Mrs. Lawrenson, late of Iowa, is visit ing at the home of hereon, S. P. Dodson and wife, late of Texas, arrived in Albany last Tuesday morning and went direct to the home of their daughter, Mrs. D. N. Williamson. Mr. Dodson likes the Coast fine and intends to spend the summer here. Miss Starr, "who has been teaching in the Richland district for some time, closed her school next Friday with an interest ing program. Miss Starr is one of Ben ton's efficient teachers who works hard to hold high the standard of her profession Some of the candidates are already out still-hunting and there are more to follow. For the benefit of those who are not skill ed in politics I would say, wait until the farmers eet through with their work so they can take a pensive hour to listen, The sudden change in the weather was very exceptable to the average farmer, as the few hot days are bad dried the ground op considerable and it was very hard on the teams. But now they are more hope ful of getting through with the large lot of spring work that awaits the average farmer. - The fall grain looks very prom ising and if nothing happens there will be a large harvest. A certain young man notliving a great way from here, togged himself op in his best suit, hitched up his driving horse to the top buggy and hied himself away to get a lady friend to go to the entertain ment at Richland. Presenting himself at the door of the young lady's home he exclaimed "Are you ready ?" To his sur prise she told him that he had made a wonderful mistake in the date as the en tertainment did not take place for a week hence. ; Barney Cady began work in real ear nest in his hop yard Monday morning. The warm days were instrumental in push ing the vines skyward, hence a large force is employed in training -this week. He has about fifteen, made up of men, women and boys and girls, and needless to say that mirth and jollity is not a stranger to them. - Real Estate Transfers.
